New Delhi: A woman pilot and her husband were thrashed by a mob for allegedly employing a 10-year-old girl as maid and then torturing her. The incident happened at Dwarka in Delhi.
The police said that they got information that a child maid was being mistreated. The pilot and her husband had employed the 10-year-old girl two months ago. It is alleged that they beat the child.
A relative of the child noticed the beatings and this led to a crowd to gather at the pilot’s house and they began manhandling the couple.
The victim has undergone medical examination and the accused have been arrested. The pilot and her husband, also an airline staff, are charged under IPC 323, 324, 342. Also the Child Labour Act and 75JJ Act have also been slapped on the couple.
Dwarka DCP, M Harsha Vardhan, said, “We reached the spot and found that a 10-year-old girl has been kept as domestic help by a couple. Her medical examination was conducted in which some injuries and burn marks came to the fore. A case has been registered. Both husband and wife have been detained and are being arrested. Counselling of the child has been done.”
