New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shock over the video that showed two women being paraded naked in Manipur.

Narendra Modi said, “I am filled with pain and the incident is shameful for any civil society.”

He added, “No accused will be spared, we will never forgive those who are behind this.” The Prime Minister also said that the issue of a woman’s honor is above politics.

Speaking to reporters the Prime Minister said, “This is a shameful incident for any society…who did this and who is responsible is another issue but this has put our nation to shame. I appeal to all chief ministers to tighten law and order. Whether it is in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh or Manipur…the issue of a woman’s honor is above politics.

Meanwhile, opposition MPs have given notices in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha demanding discussions on the situation in Manipur. The opposition is insisting that the discussion should take place in the presence of Prime Minister.

The Central government has asked Twitter and other social media platforms to pull down the video of the two Manipuri women being paraded naked by an armed mob. The Center demanded the removal of the video saying that the matter is under investigation.
