New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, on Wednesday paid tributes to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War. Modi said that Kargil Vijay Diwas brings to the fore the heroic saga of those wonderful bravehearts of India, who will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen.

“Kargil Vijay Diwas brings to the fore the bravery of India’s unparalleled warriors who will always remain a source of inspiration to the people of the country, the prime minister said in a tweet in Hindi. Jai Hind,” Modi said.

In 1999, the Indian Army launched a resolute counterassault against Pakistani forces that had clandestinely occupied crucial heights in Ladakh. This brave and intense operation successfully pushed back the intruders, resulting in India’s victory over its neighboring country. Every year, Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated to honour and remember this significant triumph.
