Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is brimming with anticipation as it prepares to commemorate the 77th Independence Day. Following the abrogation of Article 370, the region is set to embrace Independence Day with fervour and grandeur. The administration is diligently orchestrating elaborate arrangements to infuse the spirit of nationalism among its populace. Adding to the spectacle, the Ganpat Bridge in the Doda district has been adorned with luminous lights in the tricolour’s vibrant hues. A video shared by the Doda district administration captures the vibrant scene of Kashmiri youth parading with the tricolour aloft, spiritedly chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’
As a precursor to Independence Day, a ‘tricolour rally’ was organised in Kashmir as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. The rally, inaugurated by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, commenced at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre and culminated at the Botanical Garden on the shores of the Dal Lake.
Addressing the occasion, Lt. Governor Sinha expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for igniting enthusiasm and unity among the people of Kashmir. He underscored the symbolism of the tricolour soaring across the skies of Jammu and Kashmir, evoking a profound sense of national pride. He commended the youth for their spirited display of patriotism, walking hand in hand with the Indian flag.
Embracing the spirit of ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga,’ Lt. Governor Sinha emphasised the unifying essence of this collective endeavour, reflecting his unwavering faith in the dedication of the people to this historic celebration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the citizens of India to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement from August 13 to 15 this year. Highlighting the Indian flag as a symbol of freedom and national unity, he encouraged individuals to contribute by sharing their Tiranga-adorned photographs on the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ website. Meanwhile, momentous celebrations await tomorrow as around 1,800 special guests from across India prepare to partake in the Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony at the iconic Red Fort, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
