Chennai: The initial phase of the “En Mann En Makkal” march, spearheaded by BJP State President K Annamalai, which resonated across Tamil Nadu, reaches its culmination today. The inaugural segment of Annamalai’s foot march will draw to a close in Tirunelveli on this day (August 22). Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav is slated to grace the event in Tirunelveli, as revealed by Amar Prasad Reddy, co-incharge of the ‘En Mann En Makkal’ foot march.
The journey embarked upon by Annamalai, the BJP President of Tamil Nadu, set out from Ramanathapuram district in Rameswaram on July 28 under the banner of ‘En Mann En Makkal’. The march was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Over the course of 22 days, Annamalai traversed eight Lok Sabha constituencies and 40 assembly constituencies. Covering a distance of 170 km, he addressed a total of 41 public gatherings, notably the Ramanathapuram conference. His interactions spanned diverse segments of society, including fishermen, farmers, and various sects.
Looking ahead, the second phase of the “En Mann En Makkal” foot march is slated to commence from Alangulam in Tenkasi district on September 3. This subsequent leg will traverse through the constituencies of Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Nilgiris, and Coimbatore districts. The subsequent phase’s culmination is earmarked for September 27 at Singanallur, Coimbatore. This meticulous itinerary underscores the BJP’s concerted efforts to establish a substantial presence and connectivity across the diverse regions of Tamil Nadu through this emblematic journey.
