Tamil Nadu: A train fire claimed nine lives when the coach of a halted train at the Madurai railway station caught fire. Reportedly, individuals hailing from Uttar Pradesh lost their lives, with five others sustaining injuries in the incident. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital for necessary medical treatment. Due to the fire, smoke is rising in the surrounding area.
The fire originated on the Lucknow-Rameswaram tourist train, specifically affecting the last reservation coach of the train. The train compartment contained a total of 90 individuals. According to reports, the accident was caused by tourists attempting to cook food inside the train using a gas cylinder.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire. Railway officials, a medical team, security forces, and revenue officials visited the scene.
