Chennai: The second phase of the “En Mann En Makkal” padayatra, spearheaded by K Annamalai, the President of the BJP Tamil Nadu unit, commenced its journey from Alamkulam in Tenkasi district yesterday. This leg of the padayatra is set to traverse through several towns, including Tenkasi, Kadayanallur, and Vasudevanallur in the same district. On September 6, the padayatra will progress through Rajapalayam and Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district. It’s worth noting that the first phase of the padayatra had already covered a portion of Virudhunagar district.

The initial phase of this extensive journey, which was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Rameswaram on July 28, successfully concluded in Tirunelveli on August 22. During this leg, Annamalai visited 41 assembly constituencies across the southern districts, including Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, and Tirunelveli.

The second leg of this significant journey began in Alangulam in Tenkasi district and is slated to culminate at Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district on September 28. The organisers have indicated a planned six-day break during this 25-day expedition.

Moreover, K Annamalai kicked off the second phase of his tour with a plow graciously offered by the farmers of Tenkasi district.
