New Delhi: Congress party has begun a new controversy by protesting against Central Government for using ‘Bharat’ in the invitee for the G20 dinner meet scheduled on September 9. Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh, said that the invite sent by Rashtrapati Bhawan used ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ‘President of India’. He added that the government is assaulting the idea of “Union of States”.
Jairam Ramesh said, on X, “…Article 1 in the Constitution can read: “Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States.” But now even this “Union of States” is under assault.”
However, the BJP leader retorted against the Congress’ protest against using ‘Bharat’. Union Minister, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “They have a problem with everything and I do not want to say anything for them. I am a ‘Bharatwaasi’, the name of my country was ‘Bharat’ and will remain ‘Bharat’ always. If Congress has a problem with this, they should find a cure for it themselves.”
BJP Rajya Sabha MP, Harnath Singh Yadav said that the word ‘India’ is an abuse given to us by the British whereas the word ‘Bharat’ is a symbol of our culture.
In a tweet, Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswas Sarma said, “REPUBLIC OF BHARAT – happy and proud that our civilisation is marching ahead boldly towards AMRIT KAAL.”
