New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a special session of Parliament, attributed the success of the recent G20 summit to the collective efforts of India’s 140 crore citizens, saying it does not belong to any individual or party.

Addressing the Lok Sabha on the topic of ” Parliamentary Journey starting from Samvidhan Sabha- achievements , experiences, memories and learnings”  the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of India’s federal structure, its rich diversity, and the collaborative efforts of various governments in hosting the international event. He stressed that the G20’s triumph is a testament to the entire nation.

“The success of the G20 is that of 140 crore Indians. It is the success of India, not that of a person or a political party”, prime minister said.

Modi, speaking from the historic old Parliament building, reflected on its origins, said while foreign rulers has decided to build the structure it was constructed by the hardwork, sweat and money of the people of India. Before Independence this building was called the Imperial Legislative Council. After Independence it became Parliament building.

In these 75 years, many democratic traditions have been formed. Everyone in the House has contributed to it, Modi said.

“We may go to the new building, but the old building will also inspire generations to come,” the Prime Minister noted, adding that this is an important chapter of India’s journey.
