Uttar Pradesh: In a rally at Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, said that the government is committed to bring in laws against the triple talaq in favour of Muslim women and accused the Congress and its allies for obstructing it.
Narendra Modi said that many Islamic countries do not have the provision of triple talak and so girls are not devastated in its name in those countries. He added that Muslim women in India must have equal rights as in other countries.
The Prime Minister said, “We have introduced a provision to the same effect in the Parliament according to their (Muslims) sentiments and institutions. We do not disrespect religious sentiments of anyone, we act according to the constitution which ensures equal rights for all.”
He also said, “Congress and its allies are forcing the sisters to live in fear of triple talaq. They are trying to stall the triple talaq bill.”
Narendra Modi reminded the crowd that few days ago media had reported that Rahul Gandhi favoured his close friend get a defence deal during the UPA rule. He accused the Gandhi scion of not caring to provide electricity, houses and toilets to the people.
He also said that when the country was proud of India’s success in getting Masood Azhar designated as global terrorist, the opposition do not acknowledge the success the success of the nation.
He also compared the lives of the leaders of SP and BSP ten years back and the amount of lavishness they enjoy today. He compared them to him and asked the people if there is any talk about property or farmhouse or any blot on his image all this years.
