New Delhi: V. Muraleedharan has been inducted as Minister of State in the second Modi government. The BJP leader has been invited to the tea party hosted by Narendra Modi for the all the ministers in the new government.

Muraleedharan is a native of Thalassery in Kannur District and is currently an MP from Maharashtra. He served as the BJP State President for two consecutive terms from 2010 onwards. He was able to strengthen the party till the booth level during his tenure.

He began his political work as a student leader in ABVP when he was a degree student in Brenan College, when the college was under the strong influence of communist ideology. From 1983, Muraleedharan worked as State Organizational Secretary of ABVP for 11 years before becoming the National Secretary and later the National General Secretary of the student organization.

V. Muraleedharan, who quit his government job for full time political work, was instrumental in building up ABVP after the emergency in Kerala. When he was the joint secretary of ABVP in Kerala, the communist government had him arrested. This stroke tensions and when the communist Chief Minister, Nayanar, went to Delhi, he was locked up in his room in Kerala House, by ABVP activists.

He had led many protests in the State as a strong student leader. Later during the Vajpayee government, Muraleedharan held many positions in the party at the national level.

Muraleedharan displayed his administrative qualities as the Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Rashtrapathi Bhavan is all set to host the swearing in ceremony of Narendra Modi at 7 pm today.
