New Delhi: In response to the alarming levels of air pollution in Delhi, Education Minister Atishi Marlena has announced the extension of school closures until November 10. Furthermore, the Minister has recommended the consideration of online classes for students in grades 6 to 12 during this extended period.
Last week, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared holiday for all government and private primary schools, initially until November 5, due to the deteriorating air quality in the capital. However, the reason for extending the school closure was that the air quality index (AQI) reached 460 this morning, showing that the conditions remained very dangerous.
The air quality index has consistently exceeded 300 for the third consecutive day which is close to the alarming 500 mark. In this scenario, residents of Delhi are finding it necessary to wear masks and eye protection glass when venturing outside.
