New Delhi: In response to the ongoing severe air pollution crisis in Delhi, the authorities have made the decision to advance the winter vacation for schools. The winter vacation that typically falls in January–February has been brought forward to November this year. The early winter break will commence on November 9 and continue until November 18.
This decision was reached in a meeting attended by Education Minister Atishi Marlena, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot, and other high-ranking Delhi government officials. The meeting was presided over by Environment Minister Gopal Rai.
The decision to start the winter vacation early is mainly because of worries about students’ health due to the ongoing dangerous air pollution in Delhi. For more than a week, Delhi has been experiencing very high levels of air pollution, with the current air quality index averaging 421.
