NEW DELHI: A complaint has been filed against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his anti-women remarks. It is reported that a case has been registered in Muzaffarpur court over Nitish’s explicit remarks on population control and women, which has triggered massive outrage across the country. The complaint was filed by lawyer Anil Kumar Singh, and a hearing on the matter will take place on November 25.

The incident to the case took place yesterday. Yesterday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made highly derogatory remarks in the Bihar legislative assembly. He made these comments while discussing about the Census. Nitish said that women were responsible for the country’s uncontrolled population growth. Nitish further suggested that women should be taught how to restrain their husbands to control birth rates. He also implied that women should be educated to control population growth and should learn to manage themselves to have sex without getting pregnant.

Nitish Kumar repeated the statement during his speech in the Legislative Council also.

The incident related to the case took place yesterday when Nitish Kumar made obscene remarks while women representatives were also present in the assembly.

Immediately, BJP leaders condemned Kumar’s remarks as “the most misogynistic, vulgar, and patriarchal” and demanded his resignation.

PM Modi also condemned Nitish Kumar’s offensive remarks on women and birth control. Modi further stated that those who think this way about women can do something good for them.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) expressed their astonishment that individuals with such views hold positions in our legislative assembly. The BJP has strongly criticized Nitish’s remarks. Protests against Nitish Kumar have erupted across the country, with demonstrators holding placards and effigies of the Chief Minister.

Followed by several controversies and protests around the country, Nitish Kumar extended his apology on his misogyny remark. But BJP demanded Nitish’s resignation rather than a mere apology. The BJP leaders have also urged the Bihar speaker to take immediate action regarding his misogynistic remarks about women.
