Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the importance of maintaining high-quality standards for newly constructed roads, declaring a five-year guarantee for their durability. During a meeting to assess the ongoing, pending, and future plans of the public works department, Adityanath insisted that any compromise on road quality would not be tolerated.
Adityanath directed the construction agencies involved to take responsibility for any damage to the roads, stating, “No compromise on timeliness and quality of the roads. Accountability will be fixed if irregularities are found in the construction.” He further emphasized that every newly-constructed road must come with a five-year guarantee, and in the event of damage, the construction agency is obligated to undertake reconstruction.
To ensure project efficiency and prevent delays, the chief minister urged departmental ministers to conduct regular reviews and field visits. Adityanath highlighted the impact of project delays on costs and the inconvenience caused to the public, stressing the need for timely completion.
“Delay in projects of public interest not only increases the cost but also causes inconvenience to the common people as they do not get the benefit of the services on time. Emphasis must be placed on ensuring timeliness,” Adityanath said. He also called for strict measures to prevent individuals with criminal records from obtaining contracts for public projects, extending this restriction to close relatives and associates within criminal networks.
