Srinagar: In a ceremony held in Srinagar, Director-General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain offered his heartfelt condolences and paid homage to the soldiers who lost their lives in the recent encounter in Rajouri, Kashmir. In the presence of senior officers, wreaths were laid on the bodies of the soldiers as a mark of respect and honour.

The nation mourns the loss of five soldiers, including two captains, who made the ultimate sacrifice during the encounter in Rajouri. The heroes, Captain MV Pranjal, Captain Shubham Gupta, Havildar Abdul Majeed, Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht, and Paratrooper Sachin Laur, were martyred in the line of duty. The Army, in the wake of the encounter, recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the site.

Terrorists initiated gunfire on the army during a search operation in the Kalakote area. The encounter led to the deaths of two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists at the hands of the army. This operation also led to the loss of five soldiers’ lives and 14 soldiers sustaining injuries.
