New Delhi: On the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, a significant security breach unfolded in Lok Sabha as two individuals entered the premises on Wednesday. The intruders, seated in the visitors’ gallery, jumped into the house and opened canisters that emitted a yellow-coloured smoke, as reported.
Television footage captured the dramatic scene as the intruders jumped from desk to desk, seemingly making their way towards the Well of the House. Members inside reported that the protesters chanted slogans. Swift action led to the detention of the two intruders, according to reporrts.
Authorities subsequently arrested two additional protesters, identified as Amol from Latur (Maharashtra) and Neelam from Hisar (Haryana), in close proximity to the Parliament complex near Transport Bhavan. One of the intruders has been identified as Sagar Sharma, while the identity of the second person remains undisclosed.
The breach occurred during a session addressing matters of urgent public importance, with BJP MP Khagen Murmu raising his issues. BJP MP Rajendra Agarwal was presiding over the session when the incident occurred. Investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the security breach and to ensure the safety of the parliamentary premises.
