Jaipur: Bhajanlal Sharma, BJP MLA from Sanganer, assumed office as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan during a swearing-in ceremony in Jaipur on Friday. The oath of office was administered by Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra, with the presence of dignitaries such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President JP Nadda.
Adding to the leadership team, Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa were also sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers of the state. The event garnered national attention, with Chief Ministers from various states, including Pramod Sawant (Goa), Manik Saha (Tripura), Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra), and Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), gracing the ceremony with their presence. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and BJP leader Vasundhara Raje also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Hailing from Rajasthan’s eastern district, Bharatpur, Bhajanlal Sharma is known to have a strong backing from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Holding a Master’s Degree in political science, he secured a decisive victory in the Sanganer assembly seat, amassing 145,162 votes against his Indian National Congress (INC) opponent, Pushpendra Bhardwaj. In the recent elections, the BJP emerged victorious on 115 seats in Rajasthan, while the Congress secured 69 seats, establishing a clear mandate for the BJP.
