CHENNAI: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the Central government is actively providing essential rescue aid to flood-affected areas in Tamil Nadu. Air force helicopters have been mobilized for rescue missions and coordinating relief efforts.
Minister Rajnath Singh affirmed that the Air Force is facilitating the delivery of food, medicine, and vital supplies to those stranded by the floods. Three Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) were deployed for immediate rescue operations.
500 passengers at Srivaikuntam railway station in Thoothukudi district stranded were rescued.

Two teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully evacuated the stranded passengers to a safe location. They had been without access to food or water since Monday night, following torrential rains that inundated the area.
B Guganesan, Southern Railway Chief PRO, mentioned that the railway has arranged for 13 buses located three kilometers away from the station.
Authorities have evacuated more than 7,500 people from these flood-affected regions, responding to the intensity of the rains and ensuring their safety.
Recent heavy rainfall has severely affected regions in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu.
