NEW DELHI: Congress party leaders have acknowledged the failure of Congress’s mega ‘Crowdfunding campaign.’ Reports indicate that after a week since its launch, only Rs 5.35 crore has been collected.
Congress party Treasurer Ajay Maken communicated this information via X (formerly known as Twitter). On the campaign’s first day, the party gathered Rs 1.45 crore.
Maharashtra contributed the most to the campaign, with Rs 82.48 lakh collected from the state. Following this, Rajasthan contributed Rs 57.73 lakh, Uttar Pradesh Rs 47.07 lakh, Haryana Rs 46.84 lakh, and Karnataka Rs 31.56 lakh.
Kerala did not feature among the top ten states contributing to the campaign.
These figures suggest that the party’s campaign is a failure. The public also associates this meager collection of funds with the campaign due to less confidence in the party. This scenario could occur in the upcoming Lok Sabha election as well.
Meanwhile, the public’s confidence in the party is diminishing due to the seizure of unaccounted money from several Congress leaders.
At the same time, there have been objections regarding the recent appointment of Ajay Maken, a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, as the treasurer of the Congress. The Treasurer post, which holds as much importance as the General Secretary-Organisation (GSO), implies the influence former party chief Rahul Gandhi has over Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s presidency.
