New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, took charge to bring four Tamil Nadu women, who were trapped in a dance bar in Dubai, safely back home. The swift response came after the women were able to sent messages to their family back in Coimbatore that they were trapped.

The plight of the women was informed to V. Muraleedharan who quickly alerted the Dubai embassy. The Consul General, Vipul, immediately contacted the Dubai police who were able to free the women.

The four women from Coimbatore were told that they would be working for an event management company in Dubai. On arriving, their new employer locked them up in a room and forced them to work as dancers in a dance bar. They were also asked to hunt for clients.

Their lives would have ended up in prostitution without the timely interference of the Minister of State. The Indian Consulate in Dubai and the Dubai police all worked in tandem to save the women from the place of their ordeal.

The women were brought to a shelter run by the Indian Consulate and today the group were sent back home on a plane to Kozhikode.

The Consul General has also written to the Tamil Nadu Government to take strict action against the agent who duped the women.

Job seekers are advised to check their visa status with the Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayta Kendra before travelling to gulf.

V. M uraleedharan has increasingly took to Twitter as a means to communicate with Indians facing trouble outside the country. The External Affairs Ministry is following a pro-active role in dealing with Indian citizen’s plight in foreign countries.
