CHENNAI: It has become customary for the Congress to blame the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) whenever the party faces electoral losses. Inspite of this, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram affirmed his ‘complete trust’ in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Karti Chidambaram emphasized that it is time to cease blaming the EVM, stating, ‘The EVM system is robust, accurate, and dependable. Political parties should refrain from blaming the EVM, especially when election results do not favor them.’ He further added that there is nothing wrong with continuing to use EVMs.

Karti Chidambaram, son of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, made these statements at a time when some Congress leaders are attributing their frequent electoral losses to the EVM. He was speaking to the media at the Manamadurai Congress party office in Sivaganga district.

However, while addressing the media, Karti Chidambaram criticized Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s recent statement that DMK leaders, including Tamil Nadu CM Stalin, should learn Hindi while attending the INDI Alliance meeting. This remark came after Nitish Kumar’s criticism of DMK leader TR Baalu, who requested a translation of Nithish Kumar’s Hindi speech at the three-hour-long INDI Alliance meeting on December 19, 2023.

Earlier also there were several disagreements within the INDI Alliance regarding various ideologies, languages, regional issues and even seat sharing. Sources report that these issues have yet to be resolved.
