New Delhi: French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Bharath on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Republic Day invitation has strengthened Bharath-France ties. During President Emmanuel Macron’s visit, both countries discussed their views on further stabilizing prosperity, the economy, and national security through bilateral relations.

This marked Emmanuel Macron’s third visit to Bharath and the seventh time he has met PM Modi since January 2023. Additionally, it was the sixth time a French President has been invited to Republic Day.

PM Modi and President Macron reaffirmed their vision that the ‘Bharath-France strategic partnership’ can help build prosperity and resilience in their economies, advance their countries’ security, and contribute to a more sustainable and healthier future for the planet. They aim to seek solutions for global challenges, reinvigorate multilateralism, and help build a stable international order for a more cohesive and united world.

Modi and Macron reiterated their shared vision for bilateral cooperation and international partnership outlined in Horizon 2047 and other documents from the July 2023 Summit. The leaders held extensive discussions on long-term global challenges, current international developments, and drew from their converging interests.

The two sides also signed a new agreement for a defense-space partnership, focusing on “space situational awareness,” and an MoU for coordinating satellite launches. Additionally, they entered into agreements for partnerships in energy, digital health, agriculture, and education.

After the meeting with PM Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his desire for a lasting and strong relationship with Bharath across all sectors.
