Jammu and Kashmir: In a significant setback for the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, several top-level leaders from the Jammu region have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), dealing a blow to the party led by former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah. This development comes just months ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Among the notable leaders who switched sides is Sanjeev Khajuria, the senior leader and district president of the National Conference in Kathua (Rural). In addition to Khajuria, other office bearers and numerous party members have also made the move to join the BJP.
Expressing his admiration for the ground-level impact of the Narendra Modi government’s welfare schemes, Khajuria commended the Prime Minister’s leadership on the global stage. They joined the JP at the party’s headquarters in Jammu, with the presence of Ravinder Raina, the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief.
Raina highlighted the failure of opposition parties, including the recently formed INDI Alliance, in their attempt to thwart Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare initiatives. He stated that the alliance’s efforts had faltered due to the ever-growing popularity of PM Modi. Raina further acknowledged the BJP’s historic contributions and achievements in areas such as healthcare, education, infrastructure development, and socio-economic progress.
