Thiruvananthapuram: Senior BJP leader and Nagercovil MLA, MR Gandhi, welcomed the Interim Budget 2024, stating that no sector has been excluded from development in the budget. Speaking to Janam English in Nagercovil, MR Gandhi emphasized that the interim budget is ‘yet another exemplification of India’s trajectory of inclusive development and growth.’
He added that the budget is designed for the people and highlighted the Modi government’s focus on the development of Tamil Nadu.
MR Gandhi further emphasized that Tamil Nadu is set to receive Rs 49,754.95 crore as its share of Central taxes, according to the revised Union Budget estimates presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. This amount is approximately 11.2 % higher than higher than the revised estimates for 2023-24.
Highlighting developments in the country’s railway infrastructure, MR Gandhi mentioned Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s announcement of three major railway economic corridors. These include an energy, mineral, and cement corridor, a port connectivity corridor, and a high-traffic-density corridor. He stated that port connectivity of rail would greatly benefit Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
