Bengaluru: The Karnataka assembly speaker said on Monday that the trust vote sought by CM H D Kumaraswamy would be taken up at 11 am on July 18 (Thursday). This decision gives the coalition two more days to save the government by wooing rebel MLAs while allowing for whatever possibilities the Supreme Court verdict on the MLAs’ resignations throws up on Tuesday.
The SC agreed on Monday to hear five more lawmakers, who have sought identical relief, on Tuesday. The rebel MLAs who have stationed at Powai’s Renaissance Hotel are likely not to vote. The total number of MLAs has gone up to 15 after three more rebels joined – 10 from Congress, 3 from JD(S), and 2 Independents.
The BJP said that in the legislature, no official business will be conducted till Thursday as it would not be part of proceedings in a House where the government has been reduced to minority.
