Fiji Deputy PM Biman Prasad arrives in Bharat, plans visit to Ayodhya

New Delhi: The Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, Biman Prasad, arrived in Bharat for a week-long visit and met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. They both discussed the expanding bilateral partnership between the two nations. Biman Prasad will become the first foreign leader to visit Sri Rama Janmabhoomi, following his visit to Ayodhya on February 8th. Expressing the joy of welcoming the Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji to Bharat, the Ministry of External Affairs informed that the relationship between the two countries will be strong in the coming years.

Welcoming the Deputy PM of Fiji, Jaishankar wrote in a post on X, “Glad to welcome Deputy PM of Fiji Prof @bimanprasad today. Discussed our expanding bilateral partnership, people-to-people ties, development cooperation and multilateral collaboration.”

The Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, Biman Prasad, arrived in New Delhi late on Sunday night, kicking off his week-long visit to Bharat. Upon reaching the national capital, Prasad was welcomed by the Ministry of External Affairs’ JS Indo Pacific, Paramita Tripathi. Meanwhile, on Monday, the Deputy PM of Fiji also met the Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh and held discussions in the areas of health, renewable energy and sustainable development.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, who arrived in Delhi on Sunday, will be in Bharat till February 10. Biman will also participate in events in the national capital tomorrow (Feb 07) and in Goa on February 8. The Ministry of External Affairs also stated that he will visit Sri Rama Janmabhoomi on February 8. Biman Prasad is also the first foreign leader to visit Ayodhya after the Prana Pratishtha ceremonies held on January 22. He will return on February 11, the ministry said.
