Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at various locations in Hyderabad on Thursday as part of its probe into communist terrorism.

According to sources, the search operations were conducted in areas including Himayathnagar and LB Nagar in Hyderabad.

The residence of N. Venugopal, the son-in-law of Virasam (Viplava Ranchayitala Sangham- Revolutionary Writers Association) leader Varavarao and editor of the magazine ‘Veekshanam,’ was among the locations searched. It is reported that searches are being conducted at his residence in Himayat Nagar on the allegations that he has links with communist terrorists. Varavara Rao was earlier arrested for allegedly plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Additionally, residences of individuals named Ravi Sharma and Anuradha in LB Nagar were inspected during the raids. Previous searches by the NIA had been conducted at their homes on suspicions of their involvement with Communist terrorist groups.
