P V Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh and M S Swaminathan to be conferred with the Bharat Ratna

New Delhi: P V Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh and M S Swaminathan, will be conferred with the ‘Bharat Ratna,’ the nation’s highest civilian honour.

P.V. Narasimha Rao, the ninth Prime Minister of Bharat, will be honoured with Bharat Ratna in recognition with his visionary leadership that propelled Bharat into a new era of economic development during his tenure from 1991 to 1996.

Chaudhary Charan Singh, the former Prime Minister of Bharat,  will be honoured with Bharat Ratna for his efforts to improve the lives of farmers. Throughout his political career, serving as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Home Minister of Bharat, Charan Singh passionately advocated for farmers’ rights and made important contributions to nation-building.

MS Swaminathan, also known as the father of the Green Revolution in Bharat, earned global recognition for his work in agricultural science. Hailing from Kerala, Swaminathan’s innovative research and efforts to modernise farming practices have played a crucial role in achieving food self-reliance during challenging periods. M S Swaminathan is also a Keralite who won the Bharat Ratna Award after MGR.
