Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jammu on Tuesday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for a series of development projects totaling over Rs 32,000 crore. The projects span across the education, railway, aviation, and road sectors, promising significant infrastructural enhancements for the region. He also flagged off the inaugural run of the first electric train in the valley and initiated the train service between Sangaldan station and Baramulla station.
Additionally, the Prime Minister distributed appointment orders to approximately 1500 new government recruits from Jammu and Kashmir. He also engaged with beneficiaries of various government schemes as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu’ programme.
Amid stringent security measures, PM Modi was warmly received at the Jammu technical airport by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, and key BJP leaders, including J-K unit president Ravinder Raina.
A large turnout of people from across Jammu and Kashmir gathered at the Maulana Azad Stadium to witness the occasion. This visit marks PM Modi’s second trip to Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
