Chandigarh: Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh is reportedly likely to join the BJP. According to news reports in the Times of India, Yuvraj Singh may contest for the Lok Sabha seat from the Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency of Punjab. Currently, Sunny Deol represents the BJP in Gurdaspur.
Reports suggest that Yuvraj Singh might replace Deol in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The reports of Yuvraj Singh contesting from the Gurdaspur constituency came after his recent meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari this month.
But there have been no official announcements yet from the BJP or Yuvraj Singh regarding this matter. It is estimated that clarity on this issue will be forthcoming soon.
Yuvraj Singh played a significant role in India’s victories in the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the T20 World Cup in 2017. He successfully recovered from cancer and made a remarkable comeback to cricket, achieving notable milestones in his career.
Meanwhile, former India cricketer and Congress party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is also said to be considering joining the BJP.
