New Delhi: The mystery of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s death and disappearance still continues. The iconic leader’s death is shrouded in mystery and the search for his last moments is still a matter of speculations and conspiracies.

The Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, told that the government had approached Russia many times since 2014 for any information regarding Netaji.

However, Russia replied that they were unable to find any documents in Russian archives which could have shed light on Netaji’s life after he went missing.

Muraleedharan said that the Russian government made several investigations into the matter after the insistence of India. Yet they failed to discover any documents regarding more information on the subject.

According to the current version, Netaji was killed in a plane crash in Taiwan on 18 August, 1945 just days after Japan surrendered to the Allied forces in the Second World War. It is said he was trying to reach Manchuria to negotiate with the Russians after the Japanese surrender.

There are many speculations going on that he did not die in the plane crash as said. Some believe that he escaped to the former USSR and was placed in a concentration camp. There are reports that he was allegedly killed there.

Another version of his last days says that Netaji returned to India in disguise and lived the rest of his life as an ascetic named Gunami Baba. There are strong reasons to believe in the story as the personal belongings of Gunami Baba were investigated after his death. Many of the personal belongings of the holy man like the binoculars used by INA, letters, watch, maps, etc. gives strong evidence to such a possibility.
