New Delhi: The Supreme Court has strongly rebuked DMK leader and Minister Udayanidhi Stalin for his comments regarding Sanatana Dharma. Expressing its dismay, the Supreme Court questioned Udayanidhi Stalin’s awareness of the gravity of his statements and emphasized that he should have been stressing that he should have been aware of the consequences.
During the hearing of a petition filed by Udayanidhi Stalin regarding his comments on Sanatana Dharma, a bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta told Stalin’s lawyer that Udayanidhi Stalin is not layman but a minister and he should know the consequences of his remarks.
“You abuse your right under freedom of speech and expression and right to freedom of religion and then come to Supreme Court for protection under Article 32? Do you not know the consequences of what you said?,” asked the bench.
Udayanidhi Stalin approached the apex court seeking clubbing of multiple FIRs registered against him in several states over his remarks.
