New Delhi: The Supreme Court has strongly condemned the state government in the tampering of evidence case against former Transport Minister, Antony Raju. The court observed that there are factual errors in the affidavit submitted by the government against Antony Raju.
The apex court also said that the facts related to the case is not determined by Antony Raju and asked if the government’s change of stance is the issue. The court was referring to the government’s earlier supported to Antony Raju. The case has been adjourned to 7th May after all the parties agreed for detailed argument.
The case pertains to a 1990 drug case when Antony Raju, a junior lawyer at that time, was accused of tampering with the evidence. The state government in its affidavit to the Supreme Court said that the case is serious in nature.
Antony Raju is currently the MLA from Thiruvananthapuram constituency and is the leader of Janadhipathiya Kerala Congress. He was the Minister of Transport in the left government till December 2023.
