New Delhi: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a protest yesterday evening at the Arts Faculty, North Campus, Delhi University, condemning the lathi charge and unjust detention by the West Bengal Police of ABVP National General Secretary and other activists in Siliguri.

The protest at Delhi University saw a significant turnout of students, supporting the dissent against the unjust arrest of ABVP National General Secretary Shri Yagywalkya Shukla along with 26 other activists, including three girls, in Siliguri.

ABVP in a press release strongly condemned the arbitrary and unjust arrest of ABVP National General Secretary, Yagywalkya Shukla, and 26 other ABVP activists by the North Bengal police during the Uttarkanya Abhiyan in Siliguri.

West Bengal police authorities forcefully interrupted the peaceful protest by ABVP, which was meant to speak out against the torture and sexual abuse of women in Sandeshkhali, showing an unfair effort to quiet students’ voices and ignore valid worries about unfairness in West Bengal.

ABVP activist and Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) President Tushar Dedha stated, “ABVP stands firm in its commitment to upholding the rights of women and advocating for justice in the face of oppression. We demand the immediate release of ABVP National General Secretary, Shri Yagywalkya Shukla, and the other activists who are unjustly restrained by the Police authority in Siliguri. ABVP demands that the West Bengal government address the pressing issues of violence and injustice plaguing the state and take stringent action to deter any future crimes in West Bengal.”
