Mumbai: Four communist terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Gadchiroli area in the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. The incident occurred early this morning when the communist terrorists attacked security forces conducting a search operation in the Kolamarka forest area, located 5 km from the Repanpalli area.

Acting on secret information that the terrorists had infiltrated Gadchiroli from Telangana via the Pranhita river, a police team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Yatish Deshmukh and CRPF conducted a joint search in the region. During the operation, the communist terrorists opened fire on the security forces, prompting retaliation.

Further searches are ongoing in the area. Various weapons, including an AK-47, a carbine, and two pistols, were seized from the scene. The deceased have been identified as Vargeesh, Magtu, Kursang Raju, and Kudimetta Venkatesh. A reward of Rs 36 lakh had been announced for their capture.
