There was widespread protest against the remarks made by Kalamandalam Sathyabhama against RLV Ramakrishnan, with many prominent individuals coming forward in support of Ramakrishnan.
Sathyabhama insulted Ramakrishnan in an interview with a YouTube channel. In the interview, she stated that those who perform Mohiniyattam should possess the qualities of a Mohini (having enchanting or attractive qualities). She observed that upon seeing him (RLV Ramakrishnan), he resembled the color of a crow. Sathyabhama emphasized that Mohiniyattam is characterized by parted feet, and she remarked that it is awkward for a man to perform with crossed legs.
