Thrissur: Thrissur NDA candidate Suresh Gopi expressed solidarity with RLV Ramakrishnan on casteist abuse. He told the media that this is an issue that needs to be dealt legally. He was talking to the media in Thrissur.

Suresh Gopi stated that he would provide a stage for RLV Ramakrishnan, who would participate in his family’s Chirappu festival. He also mentioned that additional venues for Mohiniyattam would be arranged for Ramakrishnan, and he would be invited to various events. Furthermore, he emphasized that these issues needed to be addressed properly and legally. He suggested that behind the controversies lay an attempt to divert attention from certain issues. He expressed feeling harassed in the past few days, but noted that when it became apparent that there was a resurrection before the crucifixion, efforts were made to conceal it.

Kalamandalam Satyabhama sparked controversy with her remarks regarding those who perform Mohiniyattam, stating that they should embody the qualities of a Mohini, possessing enchanting or attractive traits. She commented that upon seeing RLV Ramakrishnan, he appeared to her as the color of a crow. Satyabhama emphasized that Mohiniyattam is characterized by parted feet, and she expressed that it seems awkward for a man to perform with parted legs. In her opinion, male performers of Mohiniyattam should be handsome, as she believed there are indeed handsome men capable of performing the dance. She further remarked that even his own mother couldn’t bear his displeasing appearance.

Following this, there was widespread protest against Kalamandalam Sathyabhama, with many prominent individuals coming forward in support of  RLV Ramakrishnan. But Sathyabhama maintains that she stands by her abusive remarks. Satyabhama stated that men performing Mohiniyattam should be handsome. She also remarked that if black individuals are learning to dance, they should perform in a temple or elsewhere. Additionally, she noted that competitions have a special column for beauty.
