Thiruvananthapuram: Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the BJP candidate of Thiruvananthapuram, today, visited an exhibition held at YMCA hall to see a collection of 950 rare crosses from across the world. The collection of these rare crosses belongs to Dr. Arthur Jacob, a former Associate Director of the College of Agriculture in Vellayani. The collection was a result of Dr. Arthur Jacob’s forty years of efforts.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar visited the exhibition hall after hearing about it. He said that he admired the hard work and the dedication of Dr. Arthur Jacob in collecting these rare pieces of crosses from different parts of the world.

The collection contains 1 meter long Latin cross to a 3 millimeter micro cross. These rare crosses were collected from 44 countries spread across the world and showcased the diversity of the Christian faith.

The most valuable cross in Dr, Arthur Jacob’s collection is the one he brought from Dubai. The cross has a covering of gold with valuable stones attached to it.

Arthur Jacob has also recreated 46 rare crosses, which he could not obtain. However, he used the pictures of these rare crosses and recreated it using teak wood. It includes crosses of Latin, Greek, Coptic styles.

The first cross that came to him was a cross brought from Vatican by a nun hailing from Kanjirapally, forty years ago. Since then, Arthur Jacob’s collection of rare crosses has grown to 950. His collection also boasts of bibles in 35 languages and a miniature bible he brought from Indonesia.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar spent fifteen minutes with Dr. Arthur Jacob and going through the rare collection of crosses at the exhibition hall in YMCA before resuming his campaign schedule. Dr. Arthur Jacob is a resident of Pattom in Thiruvananthapuram.
