Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high-temperature warning for nine districts in Kerala today. The high temperature warning is issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Kozhikode districts.
According to the latest forecasts, the temperature in Kollam and Palakkad districts is expected to reach up to 39 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Kottayam and Thrissur districts is anticipated to reach up to 38 degrees Celsius. Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, and Ernakulam districts may experience a temperature hike up to 37 degrees Celsius, while Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts are forecast to see a temperature rise up to 36 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the soaring heat, the IMD has also predicted isolated summer rains in some areas. Moreover, there are chances of high waves and sea storms along the Kerala and South Tamil Nadu coasts. Coastal residents have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
