Kottayam: Syro-Malabar Catholic Church Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil said that humans are less prioritized than animals in Kerala. He mentioned this today while addressing the devotees on the occasion of Palm Sunday.
Mar Raphael Thattil added that while experiencing certain situations, one may become doubtful whether wild animals are given more importance than humans. He then stated that the people who had immigrated to the hilly regions of Kerala are not thieves. Then the Church prayed for the victims of recent wild animal attacks.
Earlier, the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church severely criticized the Kerala government for not taking action against the continuous wild animal attacks. Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil referred to the government’s negligence as delaying the permanent solution. He also stated that the loss of human life in wildlife attacks is unacceptable.
The Archbishop mentioned this in a situation where wild animal attacks in the hill regions of Kerala have been increasing over the past few months. Several people have lost their lives in these attacks, and several protests have been raised against them. Several critics have erupted against the Kerala government for not providing security for the people.
