Kollam: Kollam NDA candidate Krishna Kumar responded to the incident where SFI activists attempted to obstruct his campaign speech at Government ITI Chandanathope, Kollam. Upon his visit to the ITI, as Krishna Kumar took to the stage, he was stopped by some SFI activists. Despite their protests, Krishna Kumar proceeded to finish his speech.
During his speech, he emphasized that violence would never provide a solution for anyone, which students should always keep in mind. He then questioned why students should uphold enmity while candidates maintain good relationships with each other.
Krishna Kumar criticized the activities of the SFI, stating that its members welcomed Che Guevara from elsewhere while hindering him in their own country.
Krishna Kumar mentioned that his visit to the ITI at Chandanathope was part of his election campaign, similar to LDF candidate Mukesh and UDF candidate NK Premachandran’s previous visits, during which they were not stopped by SFI leaders.
Krishna Kumar mentioned that from his visit, he felt that there is a situation where SFI is welcoming ‘Che Guevara’ but not allowing Narendra Modi and himself. He remarked that those who oppose development are now opposing him and Narendra Modi. He reiterated that educational institutions should not be venues for such violent politics.
The SFI activists’ attempt to halt Krishna Kumar is an example of the violent politics prevalent at the institute. Despite their efforts to stop, Krishna Kumar engaged in healthy political discussion. During his speech, Krishna Kumar stated that violence is not a solution to any issues. He questioned the students, asking why they should maintain enmity towards him, when he himself maintains good relationships with other candidates. He highlighted that such animosity should not be upheld by students.
