Raipur:  Four communist terrorists were gunned down, and weapons were recovered from their possession during an encounter that broke out between the communist terrorists and security forces in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

The encounter broke out around 6 am on Tuesday at Lendra village in Bijapur after a joint search operation by the District Reserve Group (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), COBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which commenced on Monday night from the Gangalur police station area, police said.

Based on information about the presence of terrorists in the forest border areas, the security forces conducted a search operation. Upon encountering the security forces, the terrorists opened fire, prompting the forces to retaliate. Inspector General of Police P. Sundarraj stated that the bodies of four communist terrorists were recovered after the encounter.

A security officer was injured in a communist terror attack in Bijapur a few days ago. The unexpected attack took place during the search conducted by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) officers.

A week ago, security forces had killed six communist terrorists in the Bastar forest area in Chhattisgarh. The security forces said that the search has been intensified in the area.
