Kalpetta: Union Minister and NDA candidate for the Amethi constituency, Smriti Irani, will visit Wayanad today. She is coming to Wayanad to submit the nomination papers of NDA candidate for Wayanad, K Surendran. The paper submission is scheduled for 11 am. Smriti Irani will also participate in the roadshow in Kalpetta. After submitting the form, she will meet with the media at the Collectorate.
In Amethi, which was the stronghold of the Congress, Smriti showcased strong competition and ultimately defeated Rahul Gandhi in 2019. Following this, Rahul and the Congress considered Wayanad a safe constituency. Smriti’s entry into Wayanad coincides with Rahul’s belief that he can win safely and salvage his reputation . The Congress leadership is now concerned that the same ‘Smriti magic’ that occurred five years ago in Amethi will repeat in Wayanad.
Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi by a margin of 55,120 votes in the last Lok Sabha elections. She has also challenged Rahul Gandhi to contest in Amethi again this time. Smriti Irani’s visit to Wayanad comes in the midst of this situation.
