Kalpetta: Union Minister Smriti Irani criticises Wayanad Congress candidate and sitting MP Rahul Gandhi, alleging his acceptance of support from the Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders. She said that even after the banning of the terrorist organization PFI, Rahul Gandhi accepting support from the Popular Front should be considered very seriously. She said that Rahul Gandhi’s move is shocking, particularly in light of the ban imposed on the PFI.
During a roadshow held for K. Surendran’s nomination paper submission, Smriti Irani said that candidates take an oath to act in accordance with the constitution while submitting their nomination papers. But Smriti Irani alleged that by accepting the support of Popular Front leaders, Rahul Gandhi has diluted even that pledge. She added that the INDI Alliance leaders are convening in Delhi with no hostilities, yet they express complete dissatisfaction with the allocation of the Wayanad seat.
Smriti Irani also spoke about an incident where Muslim League flags were reportedly avoided in Rahul Gandhi’s nomination paper submission roadshow. She criticised Rahul Gandhi for accepting votes from the League, stating that he should be ashamed of such actions. Smriti Irani stated that if Rahul Gandhi gets little support from the Muslim League in Kerala, he cannot hide his Muslim connection while visiting northern Bharat or visiting temples. She added that Rahul Gandhi is trying to create animosity against Sanadhana Dharma in North Bharat under the guise of politics.
