Kerala gears up for Lok Sabha elections: 290 candidates file nominations cross 20 constituencies

Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 290 candidates have submitted their nominations across 20 constituencies in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul disclosed that a total of 499 nominations have been received thus far.

The nomination process, which commenced on March 28, concluded yesterday. The scrutiny of the nominations is set to take place today. April 8 slated as the deadline for withdrawal of nominations.

Thiruvananthapuram constituency witnessed the highest number of nominations, with 22 candidates. The distribution of candidates across other constituencies is as follows: Attingal- 14, Kollam- 15, Pathanamthitta- 10, Mavelikkara- 14, Alappuzha- 14, Kottayam- 17, Idukki- 12, Ernakulam- 14, Chalakudy- 13, Thrissur- 15, Alathur- 8, Palakkad- 16, Ponnani- 20, Malappuram- 14, Kozhikode- 15, Wayanad- 12, Vadakara- 14, Kannur- 18, and Kasaragod- 13.
