Thiruvananthapuram:The postal department has provided an opportunity to send ‘Vishukkaineettam’ to loved ones through the post this year too. Through this facility, individuals can book their contributions until April 9th.
Contributors can choose from various denominations, with a minimum offering of Rs 101. For a nominal postage fee of Rs. 19, they can send their blessings, spreading joy among their dear ones, for a total charge of only Rs 120 (101+19). Additionally, denominations of Rs 201, Rs 501, and Rs 1001 are available, with postage fees of Rs 29, Rs 39, and Rs 49, respectively. ‘Vishukkaineettam’ can be booked and dispatched from any post office across the country but is exclusively deliverable to addresses within Kerala.
Vishu is a Hindu festival celebrating the Malayali New Year in Kerala, falling on the first day of the month of Medam in the Malayalam Calendar. Vishukaineettam is a tradition associated with Vishu, involving giving money or gifts to younger ones, family members, and friends as a symbol of good luck and blessings for the new year. This year’s Vishu falls on Sunday (April 14th).
