Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M) has extended support to the DYFI activists arrested in connection with the bomb explosion while its making in Panoor, Kannur district.
MV Govindan, the Kerala state Secretary has made a strange claim that the police arrested DYFI members who were present at the bomb explosion site, rescuing the injured and taking them to hospitals for treatment. He also blamed the police for the arrest.
Govindan’s statement came in a situation when the investigation team confirmed today that Shijal, the DYFI Unit Secretary, is the main accused in the bomb explosion. Sheril, an active member of DYFI, was killed in the bomb explosion at the spot while it was being made.
Govindan blamed the police, saying that the police arrested DYFI members who were at the bomb explosion spot to rescue the injured. He stated that the news of CPI(M) involvement in the bomb making at Panoor is fake news propagated by the Congress and BJP.
Meanwhile, Vadakara MLA and Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) leader KK Rema questioned Govindan, asking how the DYFI activists arrived at the spot on time for rescuing. She questioned how the DYFI activists were aware that the bomb would explode there at that time to be there for the rescue.
Similarly, several questions arose against the CPI(M)’s activities for justifying the accused.
Meanwhile, several CPI(M) leaders visited Sheril’s funeral. Sheril was killed in the bomb explosion on the spot. When several controversies erupted regarding this visit, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan justified the party leaders’ visit by saying that it was based on ‘humanitarian’ grounds.
Pinarayi’s justification was also questioned by several people for not visiting Sidhharth’s (a Veterinary student who was found mysteriously dead at Pookode Veterinary University hostel) house in Thiruvananthapuram on the same humanitarian grounds.
