The water level raised to 142 foot on 16th August. The authorities were forced to open the shutter of the spillway to the maximum. The result was a historical disastrous flood that gobbled The coastal landmass Kerala. Supreme Court has noticed the damage caused to the state and ordered to keep the water level top a maximum of 139 foot. To avoid such a risky wipe out TNG had formed this committee.
The new committee will undertake responsibility and take control on activities, in relation to rain, water flow, water level, spillway shutter opening and closing, to the catchment area of the dam. When the neighboring state takes control Kerala Government seems pretty busy with foreign tour and playing blame game.
