Palakkad: Statewide protests against the acquittal of all the accused in the suicide  of two Dalit minor sisters at Walayar in Palakkad is getting stronger. The protestors are accusing the police of shoddy investigation and is also against the prosecution for failing to prove the involvement of the accused in the case so that the accused belonging to the CPI(M) could escape the law.

Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, today lashed out against the Chief Minister who also heads the Home Ministry. Muraleedharan asked whom does the Chief Minister fears that he does not order a reinvestigation in the case.

The Minister also said that the sight of two minor girls hanging in their home has shocked the consciousness of the Kerala psyche. Muraleedharan took to Facebook to criticize the Chief Minister. He asked the Chief Minister to be more responsible and give justice to the two girls who were supposed to enjoy their childhood years.

Muraleedharan also said that the CPI(M) is silent in the case because the accused belong to the communist party. He exposed the party’s hypocrisy by saying that the party has changed its vocal stand of being pro-poor and pro-Dalit when the accused belonged to the CPI(M).

The Minister added that the police failed to investigate when the postmortem report of the elder sister clearly pointed to rape. This clearly shows that efforts were on to help the accused in the case.

Moreover, after 52 days of the suicide of the elder sister, her sibling was also found dead by hanging. Shockingly, her postmortem report also states that she was sexually assaulted. Still the police and prosecution failed to give justice to the two sisters.

Meanwhile, the Yuva Morcha State Secretary, Sandeep Warrier, has brought out incriminating evidence which shows that the young sister was a witness to the murder of her elder sister. Sandeep Warrier brought the copy of the report of the police officer who first investigated the suicide.

Warrier said that the police and CPI(M) colluded to shield the accused in the case because they belong to the communist party. He also blamed the Congress for helping CPI(M) sabotage the case.

In another incident, ABVP activists, who protested against the shoddy investigation and CPI(M)’s support to the accused in the suicides, were brutally thrashed by police and many activists arrested.
